Little Lamb Baby Shower

Craft Box

November 29, 2016 by Drafts & Crafts

I was honored to host a baby shower for my sister in law this past weekend. Here are the  details of Alaina’s little lamb themed baby shower.

Chalkboard & Handlettering: Drafts & Crafts
Cotton Candy Lollipops: Johnny Raes on Etsy
Sugar Spun Wool Thank You Tags: Drafts & Crafts
Handletteted Bob Dylan Backdrop: Loba Design Co.
Blue Honeycombs: Oh Happy Day
Gold Balloon Letter: Tablecloths Factory -best price for letter balloons!

My sister-in-law, Alaina, is expecting a baby boy in February. Tanner is going to get his first cousin!! I was thrilled to throw her and her little lamb a baby shower! The baby’s last name is Lambert.. could a lamb themed shower be any more darling?? With the help of my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law’s girlfriend, I was able to host the baby shower over Thanksgiving weekend.

I love to craft so I made a few of the decorations myself and had some sweet help. If you are a Jacksonville local and ever need a HUGE gold framed chalkboard with hand-lettering for an event, I am your girl! I do rent out the chalkboard and can custom hand-letter any sign. My dear friend, Ashlyn, of Loba Design Co. kindly let me borrow the Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” backdrop that her designed and hand lettered. Forever Young was the song that my in-law’s put in my sister-in-law’s senior year book page! Finally, the cotton candy lollipops were a hit!! We called them “sugar spun wool” to fit with the lamb theme! The shop owner of Johnny Raes, Cheryl, was SO NICE to work with! I would highly recommend her cotton candy for any birthday party, wedding, or baby shower! Tell me, are you throwing any parties this holiday season? I would love to host a brunch around christmas!

Dani

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup light kart syrup

  • 3 beaten eggs
  • 1 shot of bourbon (optional)

  3. Place the pie crust into the pie dish. Once the mixture has cooled for a few minutes. Add in the 3 beaten eggs and pecans. Stir all the the ingredients together and pour them into the pie crust.

I decided to switch up my usual pumpkin pie this year and replace it with pecan pie!! These pecans are extra special to us because my husband’s grandfather picked and shelled them from his pecan tree before he passed away. They have been in our deep freezer and we have been meaning to make a pie with them for awhile! To be honest, until I began making pumpkin pie a few years ago, I did not realize that pies are simple and fun to make! This pecan pie only took about 20 minutes of prep work and is delicious! What desserts will you be making for thanksgiving? If you have a recipe, please share!

Besides pie, what are you thankful for this year? I am beyond thankful that the Lord blessed us with our baby boy this year! We have so much to be grateful for. I hope you all enjoy a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

Dani

Tanner turns 6 months! Plus, a feeding update

Mommy & Misc

November 17, 2o16 by Drafts & Crafts

Our sweet baby is now 6 months! I wanted to take some time and reflect on the past 6 months, as well as my journey with breastfeeding.

Tanner’s crown: Wild Mountain Knits -use code “dccold15” for 15% off!
Ikea high chair cover: Yeah Baby Goods -use code “dccold15” for 15% off!

It seems like it was just yesterday that I was trying to find the time to write Tanner’s birth story blog post and now our baby boy turned 6 months last week! I have heard it my entire life, time goes by so fast once you have children, but I could not really understand the concept until Tanner was born! The past 6 months are flown by. Don’t get me wrong, some days feel VERY long and some days we are VERY tired, but I can not believe Tanner has been “ours” for 6 months! It is great that his 6 month birthday coincides with thanksgiving time because I am embracing what is means to be thankful for our first children. Being Tanner’s mama is nothing short of a miracle! Jason and I are blessed that God chose us to be his parents.

Tanner weights 19.7 pounds, is 27 inches long, and is one sweet dude!! He is happy, laughing, and talking 95% of the time. The other 5%, he is hungry or fighting sleep. Tanner does sleep through the night, with an occasional off week where he enjoys a 3am feeding. The big boy can sit up by himself now, rolls all around, and is beginning to hold his bottle. It seems like overnight that he went from being a completely helpless baby (i.e you had to hold him and hold his bottle) to now he can sit up and practically feed himself. We love to watch Tanner grow. He is beginning to be introduced to the basic table foods. He loves sweet potato and bananas. We celebrated Tanner’s 6 months with some sweet potatoes and cake for the adults- although Tan man may have gotten to lick some cake.

A few months ago, I shared about my journey of feeding tanner. I had started breastfeeding when Tanner was in the NICU, but when we got home breastfeeding was not easy. Tanner wouldn’t latch for long or he would fall asleep so I began exclusively pumping. I EPed for 3 months. It seemed like the pump was attached to my hip. I pumped every 3 hours for 3 months straight. Until, one week Tanner was extra fussy, not like his usual self, so I decided to try him back on the boob. What do you know!?!?! He went back to breastfeeding and latched on like it was his job! I could not believe it! So fast forward to the present, Tanner will nurse before bed and in the morning. I still EP throughout the day. My goal for breastfeeding was 6 months. There was so many times where I felt hopeless and that I would never make it to my 6 month goal, but here I am and still going!!! I want to encourage any mom who is struggling with breastfeeding that it is all OK. The most important thing is your sanity and health so that you can take care of your baby. I already admit that I don’t think that I will breastfeed baby #2 (one day) because I can not imagine having the energy to breastfeed and chase after Tanner. If you want to talk about EPing or any feeding struggle, please message me! I am so glad that I stuck with exclusively pumping and it can be done! I would love to hear your story or your favorite part about being a mom!

Dani

{Hat: J.Crew- similar} {Watch: JORD wood watches}

I believe fall and winter are by far the BEST time of the year! The thing I love most about fall (more than pumpkin spice everything) is dressing for the cooler weather. Fall means that we get to bust out the layers: jackets, hats, scarfs, and accessories. Today I am sharing some of my favorite fall trends that will transition perfectly into winter. I am obsessed with fall floral, think darker flower colors like black, gray, brown, and red. Some other fall favorites of mine are wool hats and wooden watches. The one piece of jewelry that you can catch me wearing the most is a watch. Watches are simple, classy, and make a statement for any outfit.

I am happy to be teaming up with JORD Wood Watches to talk about my favorite watch trend, a wooden timepiece. The watch that I am wearing above has a SWISS face and is curated from natural koa grain wood. I prefer my watch to have a larger face so I knew I wanted a watch from JORD’s Frankie Series. The Frankie Series features 6 watches with different wood grains and fun colored faces like plum, champagne, smoke, emerald, and navy. With the holidays just around the corner, these watches would make the perfect gift for both the ladies and men in your life. When my husband saw my watch, I know he was a little disappointed that it was not for him! So maybe he will just have to wait until Christmas morning…

I’m excited to share that JORD & I will be giving away away a $75 JORD gift card to one lucky winner AND it is simple!! Just click on the link and fill out the 4 questions! The giveaway will run through 11/27/16. Each entrant will receive a $20 gift card to shop- so basically everyone is a winner! If you have any questions about the giveaway, please feel free to ask me! JORD’s team is also helpful and can assist you if you have any specific questions about a watch or design. This post was sponsored by JORD wood watches.

Dani
