Spice up your Apple Cider with this spiked red wine recipe! This seasonal beverage will be terrific for a Halloween party or simply to sip on while you hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters! Plus a few last minute halloween accessories that are on sale, to dress up your hosting!
{Servings} 8, cut in half for 4 servings
{Time} 15 minutes
{Ingredients}
- 64 oz of apple cider
- 1 3/4 cup of red wine (I used cab sav)
- 2 oz. packet of Mulling Spices (Fresh Market or Williams Sanoma)
- 2 fresh apples
{Directions}
1. Combine 64 oz. of apple cider and 2 oz. of mulling spices into a large pot. Heat cider and spices on the stovetop for about 10 minutes on medium heat. Stir frequently and taste to make sure it is warm to hot.
2. When the apple cider and spices are hot, add the red wine. Continue heating and stirring for another 3 minutes. (If you heat the red wine for too long, you will burn a lot of the alcohol out, you just want to heat it for a few minutes to get warm.)
3. Use a ladle to carefully pour the spiked apple cider into a glass or ceramic cup.
Williams Sonoma is having a fabulous halloween sale on most of their products. I got both, the skull coasters (love these! good quality too!) and the bone cocktail picks at Williams Sonoma in the last week. The store near my house was running low, so hurry in to your closest store to get any last minute decorations!
This recipe is so simple and yummy! You can fill a large punch bowl with one 64 oz. jug of apple cider! If you do not want to use 1 3/4 cup of red wine, you could use 1 cup of spiced rum. Hurry to Williams Sonoma to check out all of their awesome halloween goodies that are on sale now!!
Keep in touch,
Dani
